Triathlon is a winter sport that plays out in the summer.

I also run and was planning on eating an entry level triathlon.

It would not be difficult to outfit a cross bike to be suitable for triathlons, just be sure it complies to whatever rules the race has

Also, compete in one triathlon (doesn't have to be a full or half, but I want to work up to that!

The triathlons are just as bad, if not worse, because they fuck a good chunk of the area over.

My one triathlon this year was a sprint, and it was very disappointing.

Just signed up for an olympic triathlon - 5 months of training to do, and my winter cycling gloves just came in the post, perfect timing.

I need the contacts in for the bike and run on triathlons, so prescription goggles don't work for me.

You should really look into a local Triathlon Group.
source: Redditshow context
One good option is to swim with a triathlon club.
source: Redditshow context
I would say that finding a good group has changed my view of triathlon...but that would be understating things... it has changed my life!

I had a group of younger guys who immigrated from India that really wanted to do a triathlon as a group.

Round two: Triathlon vs Galactus.

I have been researching activity trackers and I really want to get a Triathlon watch since I swim, bike, and run.

I've decided one of my goals for 2015 is to participate in a triathlon.
source: Redditshow context
I went and looked and there happened to be a triathlon on my birthday in June!
source: Redditshow context
I don't know how long the swim portion of your triathlon is, but I was in your same position last year and worked with a trainer about once a month, in addition to swimming 2-3 times a week on my own.
source: Redditshow context
I was considering a triathlon also, the piece of advice I got everywhere was: get a swim coach.
source: Redditshow context
Thank you, but I'm actually pretty set on the swimming - I have access to my uni's swim team and have had coaching for a good two years - I was asking for advice on cycling Mont Ventoux, which i'm doing this summer after the triathlon.
source: Redditshow context
edit - oh god, I hope you don't think I was doing a triathlon with Ventoux part of the bike leg, the thought alone is making me tired.
source: Redditshow context
Good luck with your Triathlon you have coming up.
source: Redditshow context
It will help you from going too hard, bonus it will also help you in your triathlon.

I have looked into some classes and it seems my options are a master's swim class at my local gym that seems to just be open adult swimming, tri-training with competitive coaches a 4:1 coach ratio that focus on triathlon training, or private lessons.

Most triathlons are in open water but I am always surprised by the amount of people who have never swam in open water.
source: Redditshow context
Is the triathlon an open water swim?
source: Redditshow context
I am getting really excited and nervous about starting to train with my coach for this year's long distance triathlons!
source: Redditshow context
That's a pretty diesel bike you've got there, I've seen disabled athletes ride similar styles in triathlons before.
source: Redditshow context
You can certainly rent one, and I would recommend that for your first race, but if it turns out that triathlons are something that you love, you can buy a decent starter wetsuit for around $200.
source: Redditshow context
On the other hand you could be miserable for 70.3 miles because you rushed it and miss out on your future triathlon self.

I used to coach triathlon, and it was full of fit guys who were used to moving their legs in a circular pattern (runners and cyclists), and had no experience in water beyond maybe swimming as a kid or with their kids.

I teach a stroke improvement class for adults at the taggart y, mostly people who are hoping to add endurance, get the technique down or improve before heading into triathlons.
source: Redditshow context
This'll be my first big triathlon.
source: Redditshow context
2 years later I was competing in triathlons and although I sucked on the bike and run, was consistently out of the water in the top ten.
source: Redditshow context
I'd hate to hurt myself or make myself hate triathlon as a sport, so I'll probably put off the April HIM.
source: Redditshow context
Have a think about renting one for a season, many triathlon shops rent out wetsuits for a season and they will have a few different types you can try.
source: Redditshow context
Go solo camping if your parents will let you, or do a triathlon

I'll be riding in the city, hopefully on a trainer, and plan to compete in a few triathlons this summer (sprint distance).
source: Redditshow context
I don't really have any races to train toward living in Louisiana but I still want to dedicate myself to triathlon and being a healthier person overall.

Triathlon is a great sport.
source: Redditshow context
Finally, are you sure there aren't more triathlons near where you live?
source: Redditshow context
I've been vegetarian for 15 years and in triathlon for 10 years.
source: Redditshow context
You might want to go with the tri coach since they might be more used to working with inexperienced swimmers getting ready for triathlons than just swum coaches.
source: Redditshow context
Sprint triathlons are usually 500 meters or yards (I don't remember).
source: Redditshow context
Its nice to hear about the running and biking, I do triathlons but sometimes its difficult to do it in the city.
source: Redditshow context
I had trouble making friends until I joined California Triathlon, for example.
source: Redditshow context
If your sole objective is to complete a triathlon then all you need to be able to do is swim the required distance.
source: Redditshow context
If you want to do well in a triathlon you need to be able to swim well.
