Tsunami preparedness is something BC doesn't seem to be very good at... the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, from the US) used to have a public real-time tsunami alert / monitoring system, where you could subscribe to e-mail and SMS alerts... but they got de-funded and sold that service to a private third party in 2013 I think.

BC/Canada doesn't have its own alert system yet as far as I know; the only alerts I've ever seen come out of Canada are CBC radio blurbs to the effect of, "...and in other news, there was a tsunami alert for the BC coast last Wednesday.
