Basically babies whose parents do this get used to "going" when you take off their diaper (and anyone who has had a newborn can probably attest to the fact that they pee anytime their parts hit cold air anyway) and now that he's older I can take him for "tries" like you would with an older toddler who you're potty training...just sit him over the toilet and hold his legs.
